No Love - J.K Mac 10/10

This song is HOT on Tik Tok and with our new "dissect this" series on Tik Tok, I wanted to tap into "No Love" by J.K Mac. With a lot of these songs that go viral on Tik Tok, we get only a snippet which is usually the hook. This is the case with No Love, we only know the hook and its heat. It even has a popular dance to it, which we can credit it being the reason the song is viral. When you tap into the actual song though, I am a bit underwhelmed. I thought the song was more so about love, but it has nothing to do with romantic love or lack there of. Once I listed a couple of more times, I realized he's basically talking about being the underdog and people showing him no love until he blew up. When listening to it from that perspective, the song gets 10x better. The Patti Labelle sample is crazy! The beat is perfection truly. The familiarity of the song "Somebody Loves You Baby" really helps listeners correlate vibes and really rock with this song. That correlation plus the viral dance is why this song blew up. As an artists, if you want to go viral, this is a strategy to look at. Not the most original way to get big, but its a valid way for sure.
